Jim,

I did have a question about this technique. I see that you used 50 or so domain names as a basis for your keyword extrapolation with the other various tools....but how did you group the keywords together for the content network using this technique?

My understanding is that you get impressions based upon themes from your adgroups on the content network....but from what it sounds like, you went ahead and only put one keyword per group in your adgroups? How does this work for one keyword? I'll have to test it myseslf.

I've been pulling keywords out with the free google "website content" tool using domains as the root keyword, but tend to lump what I find into groups of 5-15 keywords based upon each search. I've gotten decent results from this, was curious about how you grouped them using your technique here on the content network.

Thanks again congrats on achieving your goal of 1000 leads/day!

Jim,

The content network is definitely a different beast, much less precise and much more "fuzzy". At least for me it has been. You can drill it down with doing research on your placement reports, and get rid of sites that are costing you non-productive clicks or do strictly placement campaigns as well.

It seems to have the potential for alot of good traffic if you know how to get to it. Its much more versatile than straight search with the type of ads (text, banner, video) you can run on it.

I'd love to see a post to explain content network in more depth. Awesome content on your blog here Jim. Thanks.

Hi Kurt,

The content network is my favourite source of PPC traffic.

If you figured it out, then by all means use it. Most people don't understand it though and will lose lots of money on it, so for everyone else reading this that hasn't used the content network before--be very careful how you use it!

I will go into details soon on how to tackle it correctly to make the most money from it.

Also, I'm gonna be bringing on board a surprise guest who's gonna help explain the content network in a way that will blow your minds!

Really interesting post here.

So if I am reading this correctly, it MIGHT be easier to get traffic from some keywords via the content network than search? Quality score is not as much of an issue on the content network as in search? Very interesting. I've experienced being able to get much cheaper traffic on the content network with higher CPC keywords. The clicks are much cheaper on content and seem to convert just as well, if not better than from search. Has that been your experience? I've never started keyword targeting on content though, seem like it might be an option.

Quality score is such a bugger for some people (including me at times) that the content network might be a better option for some.

lol thanks Raymond--still working on designing the blog and stuff but had some content i wanted to put out there fast. now that you mention it, what's the best format to use here? domain.com/category/post-title is my guess right now but to what extent do these tags actually help with SEO? Is it better to have like 5 or 6 categories than 50?
