You should write a book Jim - you have a lovely style of writing and a really compelling story every blog post I read, but I know this one is an older post because you are already in the States (just left you in Vegas!). You can now add "Presenter and Speaker" to your bio - you and David did really well!

Hey Jim, I loved your story one of great hope and humility. I particularly liked the part about when you meet new people in Jordan and how they take to you and your brother. I spent some time in Siberia and got the same response. When through I don't speak Russian people somehow where drawn to me. We are are living in a time of great shifting, a new awareness springing from times gone by. A simplicity is emerging out of the complexities of modern day life.

Enjoy your stay in the US I look forward to hearing about your adventures.

Hey Jim,

I think life experiences shape people to be the way they are and make them unique. In my case, I was born in a third-world country, Colombia, lived there old my life and moved to the US 7 years ago. I'll tell you that it has been a life-change experience for me moving to the US! It is like having born again... picking up a new language and starting all over again...

I come from a humble farmers' family, started working at age of 7 to help my family with expenses, when I turned 9 I had had many experiences that had made me grow and mature at a really young age. I knew that my only change to succeed was schooling and with many difficulties was able to finish my degree. When life put you in harsh environments you learn to be tough and value everything you got, I don't take anything for granted, as a matter of fact, I believe that God has good things in store for me since he gave me the chance to come to this great country...

See you in Kansas!!!

Jim,

Thanks for sharing your life story, I am fascinated. I think traveling around the world is one of the best ways to learn about everything next to books. It's also good to work with charity organizations, more people will gravitate to you because of your willingness to serve people.

Of course reading is good, because it can help remove ignorance and gain knowledge. I just picked up a book about the history of the Persian Empire, looks interesting.

While filling out my profile page on one of those ubiquitous social media sites I came to this profile question: "What is your superpower?". Without hesitation I typed my answer: "Reading".

@Ely: Sorry I didn't receive your messages man. E-mail's not the best way to reach me as i get hundreds of messages a day. You can write to me in the comments on the blog, ask a PPC question at the PPC question section, or write me in the Contact page.

@Harry Edwards: I like what you're doing. That's exactly what i'm talking about guys...if you don't have the interesting experiences yourself, draw from the experiences of others like Harry does. perfect man. keep it up!

This is a great article. So good, in fact, that it has left me wanting to know more. I hope you'll write some more about your travels and your experiences.

I'd like to add that one doesn't have to travel all over the world to become an interesting person. Sometimes the world will come to you.

I worked at a rental car company back in the early '90's. We had to drive to the local airport several times a day to pick up people from all over the U.S. and sometimes from international locations.

Making conversation with complete strangers was awkward at first because I'd never been forced to do it several times a day. After a while it got easy. The key was simply to be curious and ask questions. Once people start talking, the conversation can go in a million directions.

At the time, I only been through the midwest once in my life. But if someone told me that they were from, say, Chicago, I would light up and say something like "Hey, I've been through there on my way to Wisconsin. Awesome town. We got to visit the industrial museum there!" That was all it took. I would ask questions, they would answer them. Not only did we establish a good rapport, but now I would have a whole new database of information in my head the next time I met someone from that area.

The key is asking questions and being curious. And always try to find something positive about every place and person.
